Popplet activity

Rationale: The lesson  consists  of  five  activities in total. In this way, it focuses on the development  of  writing  skills through the exploration of information  and on the reinforcement of writing and additionally, speaking skills(post writing) by encouraging  students to use them. Also, it is noteworthy that the vocabulary enrichment on the area of environment is a fundamental goal of the lesson. The use of Wordle and Popplet aims at helping students to understand in depth what they have to do in terms of the content, the structure of the e-mail and to be able to produce their ideas in simple terms. Furthermore, the microactivities  are useful tools at the teacher’s disposal which motivate and draw students’ attention so as to be productive and creative. In addition the pre and post writing activities reinforce not only students’ writing skills but they are useful tools in order to boost their speaking skills and oral discourse comprehension and oral production.

During the activities, the teacher encourages students , helps them whenever he/she thinks that they want support and commends students when it is necessary. In the end, he/she provides simple feedback. The students should participate actively and fill in the gaps of the microactivities  in order to be able to practise their writing skills with the help of Wordle and Popplet. The teacher provides simple feedback which focuses on what students should be able to do and not on the disadvantages of their efforts. The feedback is based on the students’ needs, age and level so as to be correct and objective. The assessment is based on Cohesion & coherence,  Appropriacy, Accuracy, Vocabulary range, Spelling & punctuation
